Secret Pal

Hi.

Internet access is a bit hit and miss at the moment, and I’m still catching up on things from being away for the holidays, but I promise that posts about tea, cakes and knitting will follow soon.

In the mean time, my Secret Pal Hostess Shelby posed the following questions aaaaaages ago, and it’s about time I got them answered.

1) What is your favorite season of the year?
I like all of them really. Autumn I guess is my favourite – Some of my favourite clothes are autumn type ones which is why. Summer I love for holidays and relaxing, Winter for Hot Ports and reading by the fire, and Spring because nature starts waking up and it’s all bright and fresh. Of course these are all idealised seasons, in Ireland it’s generally just rainy.

2) Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Hmmmm, that’s a tricky one. I think Finland in the summer if I had to pick one.

3) If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
Back to New Zealand, although it’d be a bit odd seeing how things have changed since I lived there almost 6 years ago.

4) If you could pick any job, and be paid well, what would it be?
Hmmmm. Aside from the end of my chosen career path, and in dream land, I’d love to own a bookshop / yarn store / cafe, except that I wouldn’t have to actually let people i didn’t like shop there because I’d be well paid, right? Tea tester? Cake tester?

5) If you were going on vacation for 1 week, and had to take ONLY one project with you, what would it be?
I just came back from 2 weeks holidays, and I took socks. I didn’t knit as much as I thought I would. I don’t really know what I did, as I didn’t read as much as usual and I didn’t write anything, which is unusual. I think I mainly just sat. I was pretty stressed before we went. Anyway, socks, but it does depend on the holiday – we had very little luggage room. I think a shawl would be a good one if it was a sitting around type of holiday.

6) If you won a shopping spree to your favorite Yarn shop, what would you get??
My favourite yarn shop only really exists in my head, as most in Ireland aren’t up to much (sorry if I offend anyone, but really, they’re not). So, from my imaginary LYS I’d buy lovely needles and accessories like coloured sock length dpns, sock yarn, some simple wool in jewel colours for felting and knitting a blanket with, and maybe some delicate lace yarn for attempting a shawl.

  1. I love autumn as well, as it was always refreshing to feel the cooler breezes and brilliant blue skies, especially after the heat, humidity and haze of August! Also, my birthday is in the autumn, which always made for something to look forward to!

  2. One thing I enjoy about where I live is that we get to have four proper seasons of weather, although the winters are pretty harsh. But autumn is usually my favorite time of the year, because it means that the brutal heat of summer is finally over.

I think this comment shows that I’m not a big fan of extreme heat or harsh winters. Maybe that’s one more reason why the mild (but rainy) Irish weather seems to appeal to me.
