Ice cream stack

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 28 2006 | General Ramblings

Oh wow. Home made ice cream. 3 types. Chocolate ice cream I wouldn’t be a massive fan of. This was good, and obviously made with proper chocolate, but at the end of the day, chocolate is chocolate, and just shouldn’t be messed with. The strawberry and vanilla though. Yummy! Fresh ingredients, clearly home made by somebody who knew what they were doing, all good and altogether very delicious.

Broken hot water bottle

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 28 2006 | General Ramblings

I’m away at the moment. I brought my hot water bottle with me as hotels are usually too cold. I filled it up and popped it under the covers to where my feet would be. I then pulled back the bedspread. A damp patch was rapidly forming on the blanket. My hot water bottle had a hole. Bugger. There’s now a massive damp patch on the bed. Thankfully my room has 2. Some of the others have a bed and a sofa, or just the one bed. I’m just hoping it’ll dry by the morning. There’s only one thing to do now of course: buy a new hot water bottle and some lovely cosy yarn and knit myself a cover. Might be a good chance to learn to cable.

Hot water duck

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 28 2006 | General Ramblings

This is my hot water duck. It’s a cover for my hot water bottle, and it was a present from my mummy a few years ago. It keeps me warm. The reason for posting is above.

Away

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 27 2006 | General Ramblings

I shall be away from the internets for a few days. I’m not sure how I’ll cope without my email, but I think it’s probably a good thing.

Anyway, I may post occasionally from my phone, so forgive any predictive text errors and i where I should be used.

Finished item: black hat mark II

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 27 2006 | General Ramblings

The hat is finished, and with the practice of mark I behind me I was able to get it to fit properly and with no mistakes. Very important as I wanted it to be perfect for the recipient.

WIP: Scarf

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 25 2006 | General Ramblings

I perhaps should’ve spent longer working out the pattern for this: it was an experiment and it’s not symmetrical. I don’t mind though, it’s lovely and I’m really liking the way it’s working out. I’ll post up what I did when it’s finished.

Camomile Tea in Habitat

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 25 2006 | General Ramblings

The cafe here is a bit more of a food place than a tea only place, but the waiters are polite and don’t seem to mind me. I’m up on the mezzanine so i can pretend to be resting while actually shopping. Crockery lovely, of course.

Niceness

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 24 2006 | General Ramblings

It was raining today. I missed one bus, and the next one was late, so I was stood in the rain and wind for 15 minutes. It was pretty miserable. I arrived at the stop at the same time as another girl. She had an umbrella. After a few minutes of looking shyly over at me, she came and stood next to me and shared the umbrella. I was touched.

Then it got a bit awkward. Should I start up a conversation? When the bus came, would we be sitting together and chatting? In the end it was all ok, as she was waiting for a different bus, and mine came first, so I was able to thank her very much, and wave out of the window at her as we drove off.

Anyway, it reminded me that people can be nice. I think I used to be like that. I think with the upcoming job change I can feel myself slowly, slowly starting to unwind, and maybe I’ll be back to that sometime soon too.

Tea and Crumble, Busyfeet and Coco Cafe

Posted by Teaandcakes on Mar 24 2006 | Delicious Things

Sweet camomile tea with Apple and Berry crumble served warm with cream.

Wow. The tea was delicious and calming and rested me well.

The crumble. Blimey. This was good, home made, sweet crumble. perfect crumble topping, perfect fruit - sweet enough and not tart, juicy and warm and comforting.

I’m fond of Busyfeet and Cocos anyway, it can get a bit cramped but it’s always friendly, and they serve fairtrade coffee, but that crumble… sorry…drooling….

Humous, cheese and relish sandwiches with carrot sticks. I didn’t eat them all, it’s my dinner too.
