Ah yes, the Clouds Of Obscuration. Many’s an afternoon have I squinted at the bright spot in the grey and thought: there’s something really interesting going on behind there. I look back at the TV and there’s Patrick Moore on some pitch-black beach in France saying “I…I see it now…that’s a spectacular prominence, isn’t it? Oh yes and there’s the diamond ring. Now I’d just like to remind viewers never to look directly at the sun…” I laugh at this strange foreign notion of “naked sun”. It is a sardonic laugh.
