Sweater Progress
My sweater class is progressing very nicely, and is a lovely way to spend an evening. It’s great to watch the other pieces grow, and the deadline is keeping me focussed.
My aim is to have the main body and the two sleeves done by this Tuesday evening. Hmmm.
It’s actually a wee bit longer than in this picture, and I should only have a few more rows to do on it. That said, I haven’t measured it for a day or so so it may have grown or shrunk in that time in the way that unattended knitting seems to.
This is how the first sleeve looked on Tuesday night after the class:

Using EZ’s formula I needed 44 stitches for the sleeves, and I knit 2 inches of 2×2 rib, then moved into stockingette with regular increases. However, I tried it for size when I got home and it was way too tight.
So, a slight recalculation, cast on again with 50 stitches, worked a 3×2 rib for an inch and a half, and so far it’s working out much, much better.
It’s half the length it needs to be, so I have a lot more to do, plus the second sleeve - deadlines and late nights at work set me back this week - but I’m still aiming for Tuesday.
If I’m not done in time I’m confident I’ll be able to work out joining the sleeves and working the decreases myself, but it’d be nice to be able to do it with other people around and Aileen to help!

You’re doing so much better than I am on the sweater! I need more dedicated knitting time… maybe I should call in sick tomorrow :)
