Two finished objects

Last night I made myself finish the Baby Bolero from One Skein with the promise that I could cast something new on once it was done. Of course, by the time I’d finished it and washed it, it was too late to cast something new on. I know, I know, it’s never really too late for knitting, but I needed to get up early for work. (Usual commute: 30 mins. Time allowed to get in early for meeting: 1 hour. Time taken: 1 hour 40 mins. Arg.)

Anyway, here’s a not great photo of my not-great seaming for a jacket for a completely cute and overwhelmingly adorable baby.

Pattern: Baby Bolero from One Skein by Leigh Radford.
Yarn: Tivoli cruise aran cotton. Less than one skein.
Needles: 5mm straights, 5.5mm addi circular.

As I’m not convinced of the usefulness of the bolero, and I found some superbly soft bamboo yarn in a really pale pink, this evening I whipped up a little hat instead and I’m really happy with it. Soft and light and cute and did I mention soft and light? The picture doesn’t do it justice. It is tiny though - although I’ve seen pictures I find it hard to believe that humans come that small. We will see.

Pattern: Lilly hat by Larissa Brown.
Yarn: Rowan RYC Bamboo Soft. Seems like about 1/2 a ball.
Needles: 4mm brittany birch dpns.

    The bolero is so cute and so quick to knit, but it is a real pain to seam.

    The hat looks great! I’m going to have to look for the Bamboo Soft next time I’m yarn shopping.
