I have an announcement
It turns out that all I needed was time.
Knowing that there was a strong chance my knitting would be confiscated if I tried to bring it on the pane, I reluctantly left it in the hold luggage. However, I grabbed a crochet hook, some scrap cotton yarn and my ‘how to crochet’ instructions, and stuffed them in my bag. Lo and behold. With a little practice, I started to get the hang of it.
I think it’s safe to say that I am now officially able to crochet! Go me! Granny squares, here I come!

be sure to do the last stitch in your turning chain to keep the edges straight…except with a US version of sc. :-)

Oh Isobel, you’ve hit on a SUPER idea. I’ve got about, what, 7 hours of flying to do for US summer hols. I CAN LEARN TO CROCHET! Absolutely brilliant! Nicking THAT idea……righty-o. Off to get hook and yarn as everything else that’s not tacked down is packed up…..
