Back to Reality
Yesterday my plans for knitting group followed by crafting at home were scuppered by a migraine that left me in bits from Friday evening to Saturday evening. I knew I wasn’t feeling right beforehand but none of my usual warning signs were there. It’s been almost 6 months since the last one though, and after a couple of years of regular ones I’m loath to complain about yesterday. Waking up this morning with my brain working felt fantastic.
So, what have I been up to? Well, clearly not writing any Flickr Fiction. I don’t know what the story is there, I just can’t seem to sit down and write at the moment. It’ll come back at some point, I’m sure.
Anyway, the Mason-Dixon Washcloth

…was frogged. The needles were far to sticky, the pattern doesn’t really suit the yarn, and the cotton has no give whatsoever. It wasn’t really fun to knit, and when I made a mistake I couldn’t figure out how or where, and unpicking it was horrible, so I got fed up and ripped it out. I’ll make a different pattern and use nice slippery addi’s next time I think. The pattern itself is great, just not with this yarn/needles combination.
Now, a Finished Object!
Pattern: Gentleman’s Plain Winter Sock from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush
Yarn: Lana Grossa Mega Boots Stretch
Needles: 2.5mm Addi Turbo 100cm circular, magic loop method
These were enjoyable to knit – it’s a nice simple pattern and the yarn is soft and stretchy. I don’t really like the heel in the pattern though – it’s a bit narrow at the centre and I’m not sure how comfortable it’ll be – hopefully they’ll be ok though, as they’re not for me.
Now, having ripped out one project and finished the socks, I only have one thing left on the needles at the moment. How great is that?
Anyway, clearly I’m allowed to cast on for new things. I’m trying to keep a pair of socks on the go at all times, but for the moment I’m undecided about what to cast on next.
I’ve narrowed it down to a few possibilities:
In Secret Pal 8, Bobbi sent me this Tess’ Designer Yarns super socks and baby, which is beautifully soft and springy and is in a gorgeous blue-green colour that reminds me of the sea.

With that in mind, I’m thinking it should be a waterish pattern. The front runners are:
River Rapids Socks (link is to pdf) by Sock Bug.
Poseidon Socks (link also to a pdf) by Exercise before Knitting (found through Ravelry, loving Ravelry).
Vinnland Socks from The Anticraft.
Deciding is hard though, I keep changing my mind.
So, while I decide, I’m thinking of casting on for some Jaywalkers in some self striping Lanna Grossa Mielenweight.

Those Vinnland socks are gorgous. I vote for those. I’m going to bookmark that pattern for future knitting.
