Ruffle Rib Baby Socks

Posted by on Mar 25 2007 | Crafty things

I finished up the baby socks yesterday at knitting, and we had a lovely sunny afternoon so I was able to get an outside photo! No rain! No wind! No grey! Blimey.

No, these aren’t for me. They’ll be heading off to England for early April. If I can part with them – they’re so cute!

The details: Ruffle Rib Socks from Interweave Knits Better Than Booties Baby Socks (link is pdf)
Yarn: Lana Grossa Meilenweight, left over from my ribbed socks.
Needles: 2.25mm pony pearl sock dpns

These are cute, and they were quick to knit. I’m not convinced I managed the heels and toes correctly, but the way the stripes worked out those are on the black and white bits, so you can’t tell!
As Bobbi pointed out, the bind off for these is really fiddly, and I would have benefit from pointier needles for it I think. It is very pretty – little zigzags, but it’s a detail that I don’t think will be noticed much of the time.

  4. Drat. My sister is having a boy… nothing fun and frilly, but the basic bootie without the frill might work. So very cute!

  6. TadMack – these may yet be for a boy! The ruffle should be a bit less frilly when it has a leg in it :-)

  8. Hi there! I would love to join in the Knitters’ Treat Exchange. I did not see an email address on the website. Is it still possible to be in it?
