New Rules

Right. Until I’ve completed the 6000 word assignment, every evening after work I must write at least 1000 words before I pick up the knitting needles. This is very frustrating as I cast on something new and exciting (and unbloggable, as it’s going to be a present) last night. However, it’s the only way I’m going to get this done.

“So”, I hear you asking. “Why are you blogging instead of getting down to tonight’s 1000 words?”

Good question. Excuse me for a while…

Update: Gave up last night at 820 words and went to bed. No knitting. Got up early this morning to do some before work and I’m now at 1394. 600 to get done tonight. My brain is melted already.

  1. I would post a comment but I’m sure you won’t read it as you’ll be writing your 1000 words. So, never mind….

  2. Plug on. Take a whiff of wool periodically to spur you on. Good luck with your paper.

  3. Hey – you must be my long lost twin – ‘cos not only am I frealin’ out about an assignment, I am also not doing anything about it. I am trying, but that doesn’t quite cut the mustard…..

  4. I know what you mean India – if only time spent being stressed, and staring blankly at the screen translated into actual coherent words…

  6. I’m just a lurker, you have a very nice blog. I have to tell you, your post stirred me. I haven’t been in college for, oh, about 11 years now. Yet reading about your 6000 words made my stomach flip in that old familiar way. I don’t envy you! Good luck!

Sometimes I think “I should go back to school” and other times I think “no, I’m done, I’m happy, life is good….”

  7. Thanks Diane and Amy. I will indeed be rewarding myself – this is the final assignment for my course so I’ll be done with study for a while. I love learning new things, but on top of a full time job it’s been hard and I’m looking forward to a break.
