Flickr Fiction: The Dating Game
Thursday
“Hi Sarahâ€
“Hi Bobby, how’re things?â€
“Umm, good. Just thought I’d give you a call. How’re you?â€
“Good. What you been up to?â€
“Umm, you know, stuff. Nothing much.â€
“Uhaâ€
“I was wondering if you’d like to do something this Saturday? Umm, just a hanging out sort of thing maybe?â€
“Erm, yeah, Saturday. That’d be nice.â€
“Well, umm, I was thinking of maybe going to the Hayes Gallery some…â€
“Ohhh, they do great cake there, that sounds fab. What time will I meet you?â€
“Ummm, two?â€
“Cool, see you there.â€

Friday
“Hi Sarahâ€
“Hi Lauraâ€
“What are you up to tomorrow?â€
“You wouldn’t believe it! Bobby rang me, and he wants to go to the Hayes Gallery…â€
“Ohhhh, good cake there.â€
“I know. And finally, a guy with an interest in culture. It’ll be nice to go with someone else for once, I’m always in the café there by myself. So anyway, we’re meeting at two, and going to hang out for the afternoon. I’m so excited.â€
“He finally asked you out! Yay! Oh, a day at a gallery with a hot boy, I’m so jealous! What are you going to wear?â€

Saturday
“Hi Sarahâ€
“Hi Bobbyâ€
“How’re things?â€
“You know.â€
“Umm. So, there’s this special exhibition on at the moment. Will we wander up there first?â€
“Sureâ€
…
“It’s four piles of bricks.â€
“Over here Bobby. There’s an explanation of what it’s supposed to represent.â€
“Suburbia. The endless repetition of house upon house upon house. Bollocks. That’s what it is. Come on Sarah, lets see what else there is.â€
“Ohhh, this one looks interesting. It’s called ‘Modern life’. It says it’s indicative of the never ending cycle of menial labour.â€
“It’s a pair of rubber gloves and a fag butt. This is crap. Lets go back to the main section. I hear they’ve got a wicked picture of dogs playing poker.â€
…
“Table for one pleaseâ€
“By yourself love? Here you go. What’ll it be?â€
“Erm, a pot of tea and a large slice of chocolate cake.â€

Poker Dogs oh boy! I think piles of bricks that bear witness to the medocrity of suburban life are just as bad though.
Good piece Is, nice pay off.

I just feel compelled to point out that there was a minimalist artist in the 60s (if I remember correctly), Carl Andre, whose “sculptures” consisted mainly of masonry arranged on the floor.
Anyway, bravo! Another nice dialogue piece.
