Current Works in Progress

Posted by on Aug 07 2006 | General Ramblings, Swaps and Exchanges

So, the hostess for my Secret Pal 8 group, Shelby, asked us all to post up our current knitting works in progress. To be honest, it was about time I did anyway. It also made me gave me the perfect opportunity to tidy up my stash, which lives by my bed and was threatening to overrun the bedroom. It was quite terrifying when it was all spread out, and I know mine’s fairly small. Anyway, now it’s all organised into ziploc bags in plastic storage boxes. A very satisfying experience.

So, here we go:

Ahhh, the ubiquitous mason-dixon ballband dishcloth. Fun and easy to knit, great to use. This one’s now almost finished, as they make great movie watching knitting. I think I’ll stop making them for a while then, there’s only so many dishcloths a person can palm off on friends and relatives needs.

Mitred square blanket for Cooper, a Jack Russell Terrier (so small, the perfect size to be knitting for). I haven’t worked on this for a while, I should really get back into making it. I think the dishcloths took over as small portable easy project of choice.

Ahh, the sock. Well travelled but not as well worked on as it should be. It’s a tiny bit further now. I’ve almost finished the heel flap and I’m about to start the short rows for the heel. I’m really enjoying this, so I don’t mind that it’s taking a long time.

The oldest WIP. I’m not sure if this counts as a WIP, as I last knit a stitch on it about 8 years ago, and it needs to be ripped out as there are loads of mistakes. I started this when I was at college and not a great knitter. The project was too advanced for me really. Anyway, 8 years later, I don’t really like the pattern, so I’d been meaning to blog this. If anyone would like to swap the yarn with me, let me know. It’s a Sirdar Denim DK in acrylic, cotton and wool blend, and I have 8 (I think, might be 7, not at home at the moment) balls – enough for the sweater shown in a size 10-12. Pattern included if anyone likes.

Anyway, that’s the lot for now. I have more things I’d like to make but there’s something exciting in the wings that might occupy me for a little while instead knitting wise… (no, I’m not telling yet)
