Sock Update
Ummm, yes. It’s the same picture. I haven’t knit for a few days. I’ve wanted to, I’ve just been too busy, and too tired when I’ve had the opportunity. Now, here’s the thing. I’ve found that recently if I don’t get to knit for a few days I get all antsy and stressed, but even half an hour knitting sorts me out.
Researchers in Cardiff are looking into the relaxing, anti-depressant effects of knitting. This research interests me, and I’d be really interested in doing further studies into this. More specifically I’d like to study the effect on kids.
But then, I have to think about the negative effects. The idea of knitting being addictive is often joked about, but surely there’s something in it. I’m clearly showing withdrawal symptoms. Why else am I reassurred simply by having the sock on my desk next to me as I type?

I can totally relate! I have even started drawing crossed needles in my calendar to represent days that I’ve not knitted. Thankfully, there have only been three days this year that not even a single stitch was made. Knitting keeps me balanced.
P.S. I wouldn’t volunteer for any studies for fear that I would end up in a control group that goes without knitting!

Yep, you almost tricked me. Thought I’d already read the post cuz I’d already seen the pic, but then remembered the potato…
Knitting addictive? You bet! And I’m okay with that cuz it’s a) not illegal, b) not detrimental to your health except in the case of carpal tunnel or trigger finger, and c) a great way to bring some creativity and beauty into the world. Just give your sock-to-be a loving pat, you’ll be ok.
