Flickr Fiction

So, what with work, and study, and knitting, and reading, and lots of other things, I don’t write as much as I used to. I need a bit of a creative kick in the arse.
I thought that Sunday Scribblings might do that, and I liked the idea. They suggest a topic each week, people write about it, and they link to their blogs. It’s why I wrote about my shoes. However, I’m not mad on the topics. Last weeks was ‘first love’ and one a couple of weeks ago was ‘the books I would write’ – why not just write them?

I like the idea of having something different to my usual posts to write about, and it being fictional, rather than biographical, to a certain extent. Chances are that some tales will have a grounding, however slight, in reality.

Now we come to Flickr Fiction. Each week The Gurrier, Elimare and I will take a picture from Flickr’s interesting photos and write a piece of flash fiction inspired by it. On a Friday morning we’ll all post up either a link to the picture or the picture itself, depending on copyright, and what we’ve written. It’s not designed to be a full story. Just a writing exercise. It could be 50 words, 500 words, 5000 words. It could be the beginning of a story, the end, or a bit in the middle. We’ll all be using the same picture each week, and won’t read what the others have written until we’ve posted our own.
Time allowing I might try to do more than the one a week, but those’ll be from different pictures.
Anyway, that’s an explanation of what’ll be posted each Friday morning from tomorrow. Just so you know.
