Knitting injuries are expensive

€63 for a tetanus shot. Ouch.
She did say it was needed though. I won’t go into foot details.
Oh, and I’m immunised against diptheria too. They come together in Ireland apparently. And for the next 10 years. That’s €6.30 a year, which is pretty good value, when you think of it. I also have a prescription for antibiotics as a ‘just in case’ – so I don’t need to go back if it goes bad. Which I hope it doesn’t.

Today I also discovered (well, rediscovered really) that I am totally terrified of needles. I was waiting for about 10 minutes to go in, as I was there early, and the whole time I was too nervous to do anything. I tried reading but couldn’t. I ended up flicking through old copies of ‘Hello’, and even then couldn’t concentrate.

Only a few of you would know this about me, but I used to have my lip pierced. I now have absolutely no idea whatsoever how I managed to get that done. I am clearly a complete and utter coward.

  1. Did your DT shot have gold in it?! That thing would cost $20 in the U.S. at the most.

  2. I’d be scared of needles too if I had just been stabbed by one. You might become a knitting phobic now and have to learn to knit with sponge fingers.

Chris don’t try to fool us. We all watch ER over here. Sure its $20 for a shot from Doctor Carter but then its another $86,000 and your firstborn child’s eternal soul for the medical insurance.

The real reason you’re moving to Wales is to hit them up for some of that sweet, sweet National Health Service free healthcare. Free eyeglasses, orgone treatments, Reiki crystal healing baths and Viagra on tap.

  5. Just checked the receipt – it’s €50 for the 10 minute consultation, €13 for the shot. I’m not complaining – my doctor is fabulous and lovely and I can’t sing gher praises enough. She even told me I’d been very brave after I had the shot. I agreed with her: I had.

  6. If you give me €50 for stabbing you in the arm, I, too, will tell you are brave.
